WHAT KIND OF INFORMATION IS NEEDED TO PUT TOGETHER A POEM?
To put together what I consider a successful poem, I need as much information as possible on the recipient of the poem – things like:-
- Name of recipient (shortened version and / or nickname)
- Likes and dislikes / hobbies – as much info as possible
- Information to tell me what kind of person he / she is – serious stuff / funny stuff / what makes them tick
- Stories of what they have done in their life – again both serious and funny
- BIRTHDAY POEM – how old they are / what makes them laugh and again what kind of person they are
- ANNIVERSARY POEM – what anniversary it is – if it’s ‘wedding’, what happened on their wedding day which will bring back happy memories – what went wrong etc
- RETIREMENT – how old he / she is – how long have they been there – name of company – names of friends and work colleagues – again stories that would bring back good memories (and bad)
- SPEECH – if it’s a speech for any event, sometimes it’s easier to try and write a speech about the person or event taking place – put the details in chronological order, with all of the information required. Then I can extract that information and put it to rhyme
- EULOGY – I have written a few eulogies for friends and colleagues – it’s amazing how you can put something together mixing serious thoughts with some funny stories to lighten the mood. Again, it sometimes makes it a bit easier standing up on this sad occasion and talk about someone you loved or was a good friend
What happens next? Once I’m satisfied that you given me enough information (I may have to contact you to ask questions to help me with the process and seek more information), then I can proceed with your order. The turnaround of the poem should only be a few days. Sometimes I can turn poems around quicker – this depends on what else I have on and how good the copy is for me to work on. As far as cost is concerned, please see my rate card, and then you can decide what option you would like to go with (email, print, print & frame or any of the other options). Payment would be made up front through ‘Paypal’. The next step would be for me to email the first draft to see whether you are happy with it, or would like to make changes. Once this is complete, you will receive your order within 5 working days, possibly sooner.
One final thought, if at the end of the day, I produce your poem to your satisfaction and you’re happy how it turns out, then please pass my information on to your friends
